Brighthouse Academy’s Children Day Celebration – A Rainbow of Talents
If you walked into Brighthouse Academy on the morning of May 22nd, 2026, the first thing that would stop you was colour. Not just balloons and banners, but children, each class wearing a different shade, lined up and glowing like a living rainbow. That image alone told the whole story of the day before a single game was played or a single snack was eaten.
This year’s Children’s Day celebration ran from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. with the theme, A Rainbow of Talents, A Future of Possibilities, and it lived up to every word.
A Classroom for Every Colour
Each class was assigned a colour that represented them for the day, and the children wore it with pride. Opal class came through in green. Emerald brought the pink. Topaz showed up in orange. Ruby made a statement in purple. Gold owned the red. Sapphire arrived in blue. Adventure carried the yellow. Diamond kept it clean in white. Standing together, they were not just classmates. They were a complete spectrum. That was exactly the point.
Why It Mattered Beyond the Fun
Children’s Day is a public holiday in Nigeria, but at Brighthouse Academy, it was observed with more intention. The celebration was designed around a simple but powerful truth: just as no two colours on a rainbow are the same, no two children are the same. They come with different personalities, different strengths, and different ways of seeing the world, and that is not a problem to manage. It is a gift to celebrate.
The head teacher, teachers, and minders were all present, and their investment in the event was visible. This was not a day when children were left to their own devices while adults stood by. Everyone was in it together.
The event was filled with games such as freeze dance, where children moved freely until the music stopped, then held whatever position they were in. Tissue Race tested patience and coordination in equal measure. Balloon Affirmation, Match the Drink turned a simple guessing game into a moment of discovery. Children matched drinks to their descriptions or labels, testing memory and observation, and Water Blindfold rounded out the games with a test of trust and instinct. Blindfolded children had to navigate with guidance, leaning on the voices around them to get through. Check out our video
Each of these games, taken separately, is entertaining. Taken together, they formed a full afternoon of learning through play, which is exactly how young children learn best. The children went home with more than memories. Free snacks were given out, a small but well-received touch that reminded every child they were celebrated that day. The children also took time to make handmade Children’s Day cards, bags and crafts.
In conclusion
Brighthouse Academy exists on the belief of raising a happy and confident child, and this means seeing each child clearly, not just as a student, but as a whole person with a specific personality, voice, and future. This Children’s Day was one expression of that belief in action.
The rainbow theme was not a decoration. It was a message: you are distinct, you are valued, and you belong here. To every child who danced, raced, guessed, and laughed on May 22nd, happy Children’s Day. The world is better for having all of you in it.
