Brighthouse Academy’s International Cultural Day – A Tapestry of Heritage and Harmony

Brighthouse Academy’s International Cultural Day – A Tapestry of Heritage and Harmony

If you stepped onto the grounds of Brighthouse Academy on the morning of 18th July, 2026, the first thing that captured your attention was not merely the scenery—you were stepping across continents. The air was alive with the rhythm of distant drums, the aroma of spices from far-off lands, and a vibrant sea of silk, lace, kente, woven beads, and beautifully crafted traditional attire. Before a single song was sung or a single dish was tasted, the school courtyard spoke a silent yet powerful truth: diversity is not just something we teach; it is a tapestry we proudly wear.

Beginning at 10:00 a.m., our International Cultural Day unfolded under the inspiring theme, “Celebrating Our Differences, Embracing Our Togetherness.” It was an unforgettable journey that demonstrated that while our roots may span the globe, our hearts beat as one.

A World Within Our Classrooms

From the rich heritage of our local cultures to traditions from across the world, our classrooms transformed into vibrant cultural villages. Each class embraced its assigned culture with creativity, respect, and enthusiasm, while pupils proudly wore traditional attire and celebrated one another’s heritage.

The Nursery 1 Journey

  • Gold Class: Captured the grace, simplicity, and tranquility of Japanese tradition.
  • Sapphire Class: Stood tall in the rich and regal pride of the Igbo culture.
  • Diamond Class: Represented the dynamic diversity and vibrant spirit of the United States of America.
  • Adventure Class: Radiated the colourful elegance and timeless beauty of Indian culture.

The Nursery 2 Expedition

  • Topaz Class: Showcased the vibrant royalty, drumming, and warmth of the Yoruba heritage.
  • Opal Class: Reflected the grace, hospitality, and historic dignity of the Hausa culture.
  • Emerald Class: Brought the colourful rhythm, passion, and energy of Brazilian heritage to life.
  • Ruby Class: Adorned the courtyard in the golden splendour and rich history of Ghanaian culture.

Rhythms, Flavours, and Royal Blessings

International Cultural Day was far more than a visual spectacle—it was a celebration that engaged every sense. Following the colourful cultural parade, each class delighted the audience with traditional dances, songs, dramatic presentations, and authentic food displays, offering everyone a true taste of cultures from around the world.

The celebration was further honoured by the presence of a High Chief representing the King of Ayetoro Gbede. Watching the children confidently showcase the beauty of different cultures, the High Chief commended the pupils for their confidence, discipline, and outstanding performances. Delivering a goodwill message on behalf of His Royal Majesty, he praised Brighthouse Academy for intentionally nurturing cultural appreciation, respect, and global awareness from an early age. He also expressed sincere gratitude to the parents for their unwavering support and encouraged the children to continue embracing unity, respect, and excellence.

Gratitude to the Pillars of Our Community

An event of this magnitude becomes successful only through the dedication and collaboration of an entire community. We extend our heartfelt appreciation to:

  • Our School Leadership: The Chairman, Deputy Chairman, Proprietor, and the entire management team, whose vision, unwavering support, and commitment to excellence continue to create an environment where every child can flourish.
  • Our Head Teacher: For her exceptional leadership, meticulous planning, coordination, and dedication in ensuring that every aspect of the celebration reflected the school’s commitment to excellence and global learning.
  • Our Teachers: For investing countless hours in researching cultures, preparing lessons, rehearsing performances, decorating classrooms, guiding the children, and ensuring every pupil confidently represented their assigned country or culture.
  • Our Minders and Support Staff: For their patience, care, encouragement, and behind-the-scenes efforts in preparing the children, assisting with costumes, maintaining order, and ensuring the smooth running of the day’s activities.
  • Our Parents and Guardians: The true backbone of the celebration. Your enthusiasm in preparing beautiful cultural attire, authentic dishes, and supporting every activity made the day a remarkable success. Thank you for partnering with us in giving our children an unforgettable learning experience.
  • Our Creative Team and Artisans: Whose artistry, decorations, photography, and creative touches transformed our school into a breathtaking celebration of world cultures.

In Conclusion

At Brighthouse Academy, we are committed to raising happy, confident, compassionate, and globally minded children. We believe that while the world is wonderfully diverse, kindness, respect, and love remain universal languages.

Our International Cultural Day served as a beautiful reminder that our differences do not divide us—they enrich us. Every costume worn, every dance performed, every story shared, and every meal presented reinforced the values of unity, inclusion, and mutual respect.

To every child who danced, presented, smiled, and proudly celebrated a culture different from their own—you reminded us that the future belongs to those who embrace diversity with open hearts.

Together, we celebrated One World, Many Cultures, and Endless Friendships.

Victor Mathew Dangombe.
